On Friday, 22nd September 2023, in Florence, HAPE Collective presented "Havana Meets Florence," a musical gathering of extraordinary talents in celebration of the connection between the two cities:
Mista Savona: DJ and Producer of the acclaimed album "Havana Meets Kingston," which featured a stellar ensemble of Cuban and Jamaican musicians, reinterpreting classics, and creating original tracks. Mista Savona is a regular guest at HAPE events in Havana.
Daisy's Cuban Quartet: A quartet by the explosive Cuban rhythms, an integral part of Daisy's, a reference point for music production in Florence and beyond - led by Habanera pianist and artist Arachel Dolphie.
Fresh Nunas: A Brussels-based multimedia artist known for his tropical sets as a DJ and vinyl collector, who will be accompanied in his performance by the unstoppable Cuban percussionist Sandy. Nunas is part of the collective and has already played at HAPE events in Chad, Niger and Brussels. Also author of the flyer for "Havana meets Florence."

Who is the man in the image?
Antonio Meucci, the inventor of the telephone, an invention whose "common thread" runs from Florence to Havana and through music. Meucci built the first acoustic telephone while working at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence; he later moved to Havana and worked at Gran Teatro Tacon. In Havana he first transmitted voice electronically.
